Maurice Joyce's SML team was a little threadbare but there were some useful marks. Under 17 Luke Wheeler opened his season well with a 11.8/24.4 double B win;Mike Maranzano proved he is over the injury which knocked him out for most of last season by winning over 3kSteeple(10.01.4) whlist our young javelin pairing(120 years plus) showed little respect for their fellow competitors. Following the SWL win the day before,Brenda Ford's U13/U15 Boys continued the winning ways by easily seeing off the opposition in the first of this summer's 3 matches. Wins for Stuart Price,Gordon Lester,Richard Smeaton,William Trimble,Stephen Tutcher,Tim Sagar,Thomas Francis,Tom Stottor,Adam Wicks and a likely-looking 4x200 U15 squad of Price,Stottor,Sagar & Douglas Dick paved the way.Res:K&P 182,AFD 120,Croydon 107,Walton 104,G&G 76,S&D 15. The Div 2 matched featured Herne Hill as debutants who will surely challenge the Div 1 teams in 2005.

K&P successfully defended the Sward field events trophy with Nic Owen & Gareth Cook predictably prominent, the former hitting the discus out to 44.85,a pb. Debuting James Davies, and Adam Page took good care of the jumps. Res:K&P 184,Achilles 136,E&E 128 etc. A determined bid to wrest the Kinnaird off Achilles failed but the sprinters looked capable of good things later in the summer and included a 43.8 4 x 100 win in their repertoire. Res: Achilles 228,K&P 156,TVH 136 etc.

After a slow start,Michele Wicks' team pulled clear to emulate last year's opening success in the first of this summer's SWL matches. Dominique Blaize with 3 A string wins, aided by similar successes for Rachel Burbridge,Sasha Gordon & the sprint relay team(Club Record at 50.3) piled up the points in the senior events whilst Harriet Lester & Lucy Jones(still U13) and their 4 x 100 colleagues kept the ball rolling in the U15 section. Camilla Thrush celebrated veteranhood with a complete set of W35 Club records in the 4 throws. Res:K&P 194,Colchester 173.5,Thurrock 172,Bournemouth 156.5,Southampton 91. Most abiding memory was a fine solo 800 by international Charlotte Moore(2.03.7).

The adverse weather deterred quite a few athletes but there was a reasonable entry in most events. Best performers from K&P were Harriet Lester,Mary Iheke,William Trimble,Adam Wicks,Ezra Nelson & Jenny Davies amongst the youngsters;Sarah Harris,Craig Price,Claire Stonestreet & Rob Smith proved they have wintered well;and Victor Nwagbara,Emmanuel Olukoya & James Davies were the pick of the older members.
