Our Club does not have a waiting list to join but there are a number of options to consider if you are aged between 9 and 18 years of age and wanting to train in Track and Field with us at Kingsmeadow Athletics Stadium, Kingston Road, Norbiton, KT1 3PB. For athletes below the age of 9, the  KESTREL CLUB introduces school years 2 – 11 to the various track and field events (see 2. BEGINNERS SCHEME).

1.    BASIC MEMBERSHIP.

The basic membership of joining KACPH as a Junior is as a competing
athlete, without necessarily being in a coaching group.

Junior membership (including full time students) is £25.00 per year, and anyone joining between September and 1st January will be covered until the following 1st January ( ie. an extra 4 months membership). In order to compete for KACPH and to be fully insured under UKA rule, each athlete has to buy a competition vest at a cost of £18.00 with their joining fee ( ie £43.00).

Membership of KACPH will entitle an athlete to various cross-country, sportshall athletics and indoor/outdoor competitions all year round. The only other costs as a Member would be a small fee of £4.00 if an athlete has to travel to occasional away matches in the minibus.

ALL athletes using the track and grass areas within the Kingsmeadow Stadium, whether KACPH Members or not, are required to pay an entrance fee at Reception to the management company DCLeisure (normally £2.00 per session for Juniors).

2.    BEGINNERS SCHEME.

If Junior athletes are at an age when coaching can play an influential part in their reaching their natural potential in their favoured events, then KACPH has a beginners scheme, called the KESTREL CLUB, which introduces school years 2 – 11 to the various track and field events.

Training times and details of the Kestrel Club, run by Richard Holt and Pat Logan, can be found here:
www.kestrelclub.co.uk

There is a fee for this coaching but it includes admittance to Kingsmeadow Stadium, coaching by qualified coaches and various prizes to help motivate the children.

There is also an opportunity to come and try sessions for £5.00 a time before committing to a block of sessions, but it is not necessary to join KACPH to become a Kestrel and youngsters may want to hold back on Club membership until they find their feet (running spikes are not necessary for the Kestrels). When they wish to compete in their favourite event/events, then KACPH Membership is recommended.

3.    EXPERIENCED JUNIORS.

If a Junior has had some experience in track and field athletics through their schools, and confident in her or his event, then the Club has a range of specialist Coaches who can develop the athlete further.

Coaching at this higher level tends to be more committed and the Junior athlete would be expected to train regularly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and perhaps on either a Saturday or Sunday, in order to be accepted into a specialist group. Other commitments affecting this arrangement would be discussed with the Coach involved.

There are currently spaces with Coaches specialising in sprints/hurdles; middle/long distance; and all the throws.

Although KACPH is a voluntary club, some of our Coaches ask a small charge for their time and others are free. The latter usually insist on athletes joining and competing for KACPH in return for their services. Training starts around 6.30pm for most of these specialist groups.

4.    MEMBERSHIP & COACHING.

KACPH Membership is under the direction of Gillian Libretto, who can be reached via this website, and Mary Dimbleby and Gillian in person at Kingsmeadow on Club training nights, every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30pm.

KACPH Coaching is under the direction of our Coaching Co-ordinator, Patrick Logan, who will answer any questions via this website.

All our Coaches are CRB cleared and KACPH has a Child Protection Officer(Cashel Riordan) who oversees the checks.

4.    ENGLAND ATHLETICS (EA) FEE.

For athletes to compete for the club, a yearly registration fee must be paid to England Athletics of £14. For more information, visit: http://www.englandathletics.org/england-athletics/athlete-registration
