Clubmark Assessment: June 30th

A few years ago the Club made a decision that they would apply for England Athletics Clubmark Accreditation. ‘Clubmark’ forms part of the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards. We wanted to prove that we have a club that is nationally recognised as providing an ‘active, accessible and accredited’ environment for our members.

Some of the benefits of becoming accredited were the opportunity to improve the basic infrastructure with policies and procedures that, although sound like hard work, actually make it easier for the volunteers to run the club. This should improve the whole experience of being a member and encourage new members to join. There is also the possibility of gaining access to funding from the local authority. For athletes and parents there will be the reassurance that we have safeguarding and welfare policies in place for the athletes and can provide structured sessions for them by qualified coaches. We also needed to keep and recruit the volunteers that will allow us to maintain the good work that the club does.

That’s the blurb…the last few months have been geared towards producing a folder for England Athletics to prove that we have the required infrastructure and processes in place. The last part of this process is for the final assessment at the club. This is due to take place on June 30th during the evening training session. Julia Bailey from England Athletics will be here to assess whether we do what we say we do! We will be asking some of the parents and coaches whether they would be prepared to speak to Julia on the night. We hope you might be willing to do so.

After her conversations and a chance to see how the activities are run on the night, she is hoping to present our award certificate the same evening. If you happen to have finished training at that moment and are willing to be part of the photo then we may ask you to come forward to represent KACPH in the EA photo. We hope to do our own special presentation at a date shortly afterwards.

If you would like to know any more about the Clubmark process please ask Ros Parkinson, Clubmark Officer, (Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the club) or go to:
