Peter Waddington,to our delight, has embarked upon a Project to bring the Club's All Time Open Lists up to date, both Men and Women.
Men - The Polytechnic Harriers All-Time Rankings were compiled comprehensively for our primary predecessor's Centenary in 1983 and the lists stretch to a depth of around 50 or more in most events, with the Top 15 actually listed in the 1933-1983 History of Polytechnic Harriers.
It is the intention to incorporate all the relevant performances into one full list, depending on circumstances, and that decision is based on the fact that,at the merger in 1985,it was agreed that the CLUB RECORDS of the Poly would be brought forward as the records of the new K&P outfit and the new lists will thus be on parity with that decision.
Those afficionados of track and field stats will know that such enterprises are a labour of love, time consuming and subject to the vagaries of research and historical records. It is believed, however, that the new Lists will be as accurate as is humanly possible, and will reflect 125 years of our history.
Women - This is much trickier, since our 'predecessors' on the Women's side, Surrey AC,Surrey AC Ladies and, latterly, the Royal Borough of Kingston AC,had been neither able to set down their achievements in a History nor to compile All-Time Lists, although, here again, the CLUB RECORDS were extant and were adopted by the new club.As the writer of the latter 50 year Poly History will tell you the research, from scratch, would take a 'lifetime',even if the information were to hand, which it is currently not.
So,once the Men's Lists have been published on our site,in due course, perhaps to celebrate 25 years of Kingston & Poly,it has been tentatively agreed by the historians involved that the Women's Lists will commence at the merger in 1985.
