The 'End-of-Season High Note"!
LILY B MATCH –The Cup Final, Ewell Court 18th September
Once again the weather was kind to us and the final took place under sunny skies. The team have had a wonderful season and our largest team of the season including 4 (U17s) meant we had high hopes of a top three finish. However our expectations were surpassed when, at the end of a long day it was announced that we had WON by just 5.5 points.
This victory was the result of the fantastic team spirit and willingness of everyone to fill in so we covered the maximum number of events, every single point was vital as it was such a hard fought match.
On the day there were 32 new PB’s and 17 outright event wins with people discovering new talents in events they had never tried before
The victory laps at the end were well deserved and it has been a real pleasure to be involved which such a fantastic group of athletes over the summer.
WELL DONE EVERYONE YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.
The outstanding race in this age group was the 800m where Nadia Allan and Elle Butcher both broke the club record which had stood for more than 22 years. Elle won the race in 2.27.6 with Nadia not far behind in 2.30.3. A fantastic run by both girls and a great way to end the season. Nadia also achieved new PB’s in the 100m (14.4) and the LJ (4.19).
Much to her surprise Caitlin won the Discus with a throw of 16.73m, also a new PB. Laura Darcey won her hurdles with a new PB of 13.4 and also set a new best time for 1500m of 5.55.9. Nina won the B long jump and finished 2nd in the B 100m.
