A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE
Lauriston Runners and HWAC offer their 5 Mile CC race on Wimbledon Common this coming New Year's Day.
The snow dump on Saturday a.m.(18th) caught us all on the hop and caused the postponement of the South of Thames 7.5M Champs. You try driving or running up the hill from Coulsdon onto Farthing Down in that stuff!! The event will now likely be held in February or March.
KINGSTON CHRISTMAS POLYLAUF - Kingsmeadow Tuesday December 21st - see LATEST NEWS
Congratulations to 800/1500 runner,Sam Dobin who was married in St Johns College,Cambridge on Sunday. We look forward next summer to his club debut, which was curtailed by injury last summer.
Very disappointingly, the Downs League R2(5th) was CANCELLED - it was just impossible to run on the course;despite the partial thaw elsewhere,Epsom Downs has its own micro-climate and most of the previous substantial fall of snow on the course and in the car parks remained too deep, precipitous, slushy and 4by4rutted! SLH's Farthing Down course at Coulsdon is similarly afflicted and their annual Gordon Pirie 10miles CC was postponed on the same day.
Meanwhile,Mr and Mrs Gen Sec attended a moving and uplifting Thanksgiving Service for Andy Ripley at Southwark Cathedral(1st). Somewhere around 800/900 were present - tributes included words from Rugby Internationals Roger Uttley & Lawrence Dallaglio - amongst those present from K&P/Poly Harriers were Steve Dixon(SP/ex-Memb Sec),Steve Hinchliffe(VP/400Hdls),Justin Cooper(400) & Tom Ojasoo(VP&ex-100Club Org./PV).
