id1186-Change of venue for Surrey Mens CC League on Jan 15th

Written by MH

January 15th venue - Mens League now at G&G's course at Newlands Corner.

Details below;map from Matt Hyett,if you have not received one. If you Google 'Newlands Corner',you'll find it on the A25(Shere Road at that point and at the top of the Downs ominously!) between Guildford and Dorking.

The next Division 2 race in the Surrey League Cross Country will now take place at Newlands Corner near Guildford (Newlands Corner, Shere Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 8SE.). The change of venue has been necessary because Epsom Downs have denied permission to use the Downs. My thanks to Guildford and Goldaming AC in helping us find an alternative venue.(Martin Duff - League Secretary)

Race Details

The races will take place as planned at the new venue on Saturday 15th January 2011 at the following start times.

Boys 2.00pm

Seniors 2.30pm

The course is two laps and is 5 miles (8km) long. It is on trails and some stony paths; a small section runs through a stony car park. Therefore it is suitable for off road shoes, the use of spikes is possible as the stony sections are short. (However, I leave the final decision on suitable footwear up to you).

Car Parking

Newlands Corner have granted us exclusive use of the overflow car park at the far (western) end of Newlands Corner car park. Please follow the marshals’ instructions.

Toilets & Changing

There are no changing facilites at the venue. Public toilets are available adjacent to the Visitors Centre in the car park.
