News from the season's opener at Kingsmeadow
K&P managed to take both matches to ensure a favourable start to the Rosenheim season, ahead of the usual trips to Walton,Ewell,Eton,Twickenham, before returning to Kingston for M6,and,hopefully,the Finals.
Numbers were only just sufficient to achieve that goal, and it was also a challenge to cover all the officials discipllnes, too - but to our credit,we did.
In the Women's match, the only opposition came from Epsom & Ewell;numbers were thin all round, but TM Sasha's selections all came good and we won with 46pts,23 in front of E&E for 5 Lge Pts. Most track races were run mixed with Natalie Sacre(800),Liz Richardson(3k) & Camilla Thrush(HT/DT) collecting the max. pointers - Isabelle Hatton,Lana Whatley,Emily McIlwain & Natalie teamed to take the 4 x 200,with Rahannah Gillette-Vernon revealing some welcome, though previously unknown, versatility over 400Hurdles.
The Men could not find anyone over 800/1500 with the regular incumbent,Ron Taylor, not available, but managed a late flurry of wins to edge SMR 44pts to 41,with Walton close at 37pts.Winners were David Cook(100),Jason-Louis Bernard(200),Craig Price(3000 with a large pb 9.07.8),Richard Holt(400H) & Nick Owen(SP 14.64). Nick also rescued the team in the Pole Vault and Hammer. Elsewhere,Mikael Undrom,Chris Jennings,Alex Mackula,Andy Robinson and Tariq Sheikh were in action, with the meeting concluding with a win in the 4 x 200,courtesy of Messrs Holt,Jennings,Bernard & Sheikh.
