R2 News from Stompond Lane

Men

There was an almost total change of personnel from M1,but we were again,just,equal to the task of handing the team back to TM Humphrey in top spot….and it was Mr W senior,aided primarily by veterans and U20s,who nudged the team into a 2nd successive 1st place with 45pts to SMR's 42.

Andy Arbour(2kSteeple) and Andy Robinson(3000),Dark Blues both,along with U20 Kyan Koranteng(400) were our winners,alongside the 4 x 200 squad. Also ranking amongst the better performers was track debutant,John Wilkinson(M45),who ran a gritty 2.14.8 over 800 - John was well below 4 mins over 1500 in his Yorkshire heyday,so not unduly surprising. We were also indebted to M45 Robin Shaw for spreading himself around the field events.

We lead after 2 of the 6 matches - next at Ewell on June 1st - with 10(89) from SMR 8(83) and Walton 6(77).

Women

Just half-a-dozen answered the call from Sasha and Debbie - missing a 100 sprinter,we had to give way to home club,Walton,in the match by 5 pts,but we still lead with 9(80) from E&E 7(45) and Walton 7(43).

U20 Rahannah Gillette-Vernon(JT) and Sasha herself(HJ) were our sole 5 pointers,with Natalie Sacre,Liz Richardson,Tasha Cook and Joan Trimble gathering our other points.

VAC

The VAC meet in conjunction featured Mike May,Chuck Isetts and Joan T.
