All-Rounder,Bilen Ahmet, reports on his extensive and highly commendable exploits in The Netherlands

World Championships Ultra Multievents
Lisse, Netherlands
20th-21st August

Event details:

Saturday

100m - 12.53
LJ - 5.36 (early no-jumps meant I had to play it safe)
200mH - 28.5h
SP - 10.01
5000m - 20:42.8
800m - 2:24.54 (massive headwind down back straight, no tailwind on home straight due to trees)
HJ - 1.71 (maximum 6 attempts total)
400m - 63.45 (wind played a big part again)

HT - 24.50 (two no-throws)

3000m S/C - 12:41.83 (stacked it on the second water jump and landed face first in the water)

Sunday

110mH - 19.43
DT - 23.58 (two no-throws so had to play it safe)
200m - 26.20
PV - no height (not long enough to warm up, and no suitable poles; came in at 3.60m)
3000m - 12:38.86
400mH - 68.07 (massive headwind on back straight again)
JT - 31.43m
1500m - 5:33.51
TJ - 12.06m (all three were about this distance)
10000m - 45:05 (my left leg was dead from the knee down for the last 6km; I lead my pool for the first 19 laps, and ultimately came third in it)

Total score was a little over 8000 (I didn't actually see it, so am not sure the precise total). I was obviously very disappointed with the pole vault, so will probably end up going back next year if I can (it's either in Italy or Finland in September next year).

Ed's Note - Some of you will recall John Ratcliff also completing a DD some 10 years ago.
