5th - Richmond Park - Club 7 Miles Champs(words from Matt Hyett/full result on this site)
Last Saturday saw the Club 7 mile championships at Sheen Gate, Richmond Park.
It was quite a mild and dry day for this time of year, and nineteen of us (including runners from Hercules Wimbledon and Milos) took on the challenge.
At the front of the field there was a group of 7 who were all running pretty closely throughout the duration of the race, and this made for an exciting battle.
First in was James Robertson, now new holder of the long-standing David Pool trophy. Well done James. He was followed by Jamie McCullagh, Richard Mathie, Mark Reed, Phil Glynn, Matt Hyett and Andy Arbour. From 1st in to 7th in there was only a space of 1 minute and 40 seconds!
As usual it was a fairly close contest between Bob McDonough and Ant Budarkiewicz with respect to leading veteran, Ant retaining the Pat Wilks trophy however this year. Natalie Sacre was the first woman home, and recipient of a gold medal.
My thanks, as ever, to all those who flagged and marshalled.
Next up is the second Surrey League match at Lloyd Park Croydon. Would be good to see as many as possible for this race, to consolidate our excellent start.
6th - Guildford - Losely 4k - Alex Mackula ran 17.45.

16th - Wimbledon Common - London Colleges League M3 - HCA Chris Bannon moved up to 11th this time out and Richard Mathie placed 28th,helping their Imperial College squad to continue to make a realistic challenge to a so-far dominant St Mary's. Both also contributed substantially in last Saturday's League races - with Richard 2nd home for K&P at Lloyd Park in the Surrey League Div Two(q.v),and Chris well placed in the Coventry Godiva scoring team which ran Birmingham University close in the first Birmingham League Div One race at Leamington.
