Report and Team Scores from Croydon - for Individual results, see TPoT
The second Surrey League match saw us head down to Croydon for the pleasure that is Lloyd Park.
Always guaranteed to be painful, with its succession of little hills and windy paths, this year was no exception, although to be fair it actually wasn’t too muddy.
Showing the seniors how it should be done was Harry Reynolds, who was our only junior runner. He was the first U13 in in the junior race and has single-handedly put K&P top of the Colts/U13 table- well done!
The Senior team couldn’t achieve 1st, but we didn’t do too badly I reckon.
Despite some alcohol the night before, Craig Price was still first in for K&P, placing an impressive 7th. Following on some thirty seconds or so later came Richard Mathie in 17th place who also ran a pretty determined and successful race. I think a difficult and slow bus journey to Croydon had psyched him up for the race.
Both Jamie McCullagh and James Robertson mentioned that they found the second lap a bit hard going on this particular occasion, but both still managed to finish within the top 30, Jamie placing 23rd and James in 28th. I followed on in 35th along with Andy Arbour (44th), Michael Huntley (51st), Mike Maranzano (69th), John Wilkinson (75th). Ant Budarkiewicz was our last scorer home in 84th.
Good to see Mark Brennan back running. He and Geoff Reed completed the K&P line up, Geoff getting some useful training in for the forthcoming Gatliff.
In the end K&P finished 3rd place on the day and 3rd place overall. A great result and a good place to be mid-season- my thanks to everyone who took part or cheered us on.
