After 8 consecutive years at Lloyd Park,Croydon, the County ventured to this new venue, courtesy of the relationship fostered between the Vineyard's owner,Adrian White and local club,Dorking Mole Valley. Having been utilised successfully previously for League and Club races, the hilly but firm terrain produced some challenging courses for all age groups.

Some 26 K&P athletes contested seven of the 10 Championships. Though our turnout was not full strength, there were some useful individual performances across the various races;but the standard was such - and one expects it to be so - that our teams would have had to have excelled to be in the medal mix. Full turnout was over 700 runners.
Our Under 13 squads both finished 9th overall - Harry Reynolds(26th 13.01) and Sam Shaw(33rd 13.27) ran well in the 75-strong field, with Finlay Hardwick(57th) and Gian Hobbs(60th) closing the team in. Ben Paton and George Chaplin completed our entry. In the Girls event,Rebecca Keddie(46th 15.22) and Kathryn Bartle(57th 16.09) were our leading scorers, backed by Rhianna Reynolds,Eleanor Bartle and Fehinti Ogungbesan in a field of 71.
At Under 15 level,Philip Bearman's 11th place(14.21),in a field of 71,was arguably our best achievement of the day, with Neil Wellard(32nd 15.23) showing definite indications of his improvement in recent months and heading Matt Stevens(45th),Joe Lavender & Tuomas Syyrila. In the Girls,we were particularly short on our usual numbers but Bridget Langford(34th),Laura Dunkling(36th) and Ella Shaw(41st) were competitive despite our not closing a scoring 4.
With numbers noticeably dropping off in the two joint Under 17 and Under 20 races,K&P were not alone with the joint-scoring Womens event bringing us our best team placing of 4th - Layla Thompson was 11th,Mae Thompson 13th and Alice Clemens 19th. There were no K&P entries in the Mens.
Our Seniors representation was pretty disappointing, though the interest in next week's League matches at Coulsdon and Reigate remains high and supportive of TMs Debbie Raymond and Matthew Hyett. The earlier Women's race with 143 completing, saw Nicky Atkins lead us home(80th),ahead of Debbie R(85th),whilst Richard Mathie was in good form in the Mens event, taking 46th out of a field of 215,with Matt H in 83rd.
