K&P Open 14th and 15th April 2012

The K&P Open was another success raising nearly £400 for the club. The competition was a success for many K&P Athletes starting with Pippa Wingate breaking her Hammer record with a throw of 49.85 well on her way to her 50m target. She then followed this up with a 35.95 discus and 10.57 shot so a good start to the season. Pippa was accompanied by Alex Bartle in the hammer who threw 29.40 another good opening after a good winters training. In the men’s throws Mikael Undrom threw 7.45 in the shot and Rory McCann and Harry Robinson threw well in the Javelin.

The Open was also a first opportunity for our new seated throwers to see some good throwing by UK number one Derek Derenalagi who threw 43.30 in the discus. Toby Gold and Tony West got their first seated discus throws competition underway with 10.81 and 14.41 respectively. K&P was well represented on the track with PB’s coming thick and fast for all our athletes including Toby, Jack Binstead, James Freeman and Sheikh Sheikh.

Once again the meeting was well supported by athletes from all over the UK and included a World and European record by Scott Thor Jones in the discus and shot.
