Womens Match
Our 4th and final meeting was at Croydon Arena.
Susanne Dietrich won the v35 2K walk while Gill Broderick, without training, came a very useful 2nd place in the over 50 age group. Caroline Jeffcote achieved a consistent time in the 800m having raced in the very muddy Claygate 5 the previous day. After race walking Susanne then sprinted 200m with B string Clare Nelson doing well with her recent training in Chuck’s sprint group. Joan won her 200m in the over 50 age group and was pleased with her time. Unfortunately this year we had no athlete’s available for the 5000m.
Out in the field Camilla Thrush won the shot and discus with Gill Broderick throwing as scoring in the over 50 age group. Susanne Dietrich also threw the shot as a non- scorer. Camilla also jumped in the high jump earning us some extra points. Susanne Dietrich helped to officiate, the triple jump and while there thought that she would earn some extra points by triple jumping!
The relay was the 4 x 200m and the athletes involved were Susanne, Gill, Clare Nelson and Joan Trimble who reeled in Croydon athlete on the home straight so that K&P finished 2.3 seconds in front of the Croydon team.
At the end of this match we slipped to 3rd place to Croydon Harriers mainly because they had a full team across the age groups. However the good news is that although we struggled as a team we still managed to hold on to 2nd place overall to Epsom and Ewell Harriers.
Well done team you all did marvellous! Thank you to everyone who competed officiated and supported. Hopefully next year the team will have fewer injuries!

Mens Match
Our final match at Croydon was another close result as we came 2nd but only 2 points ahead of joint 3rd, so everybody who did anything made the difference between 2nd and 4th place, but especially Andy Arbour who got injured, but walked the last two laps to secure 3 points. We finish the season 2nd overall, so well done everyone after the most competitive season in years. The remote venue did lead to a few late arrivals that led to less than optimal allocation of athletes to events, but that applied to the Croydon teams when they came to Kingston and Ewell. We only had one event uncovered at this match, the M40 800.
There were some PBs and age group PBs from the team, with Mark Roberts annexing the club's veteran High Jump record with 1.60m, Phil Bearman getting a 5000m PB and your team manager improving his 2K walk PB by over a minute, even if he still came last. Plus David Barrington set an m70 best in the triple jump.
Mark also won the m40 200m and took part in the winning 4 x 200 relay team with Stuart Channon, Andy Gordon and m50 200 winner Pat Logan. On the track we also had David Bell (walk), Chris Taplin, Geoff Reed (who did m60 800 and m50 5000), Chuck Isetts (200m), and Ollie Oladele ( who didn't score, but stayed in reserve in case we needed him for the relay). Andy Gordon, as well as doing M35 200 (results have him down as David Bell) came 3rd in the Discus. On the field we also had Frank Schubert who did all the m50 events, HJ, TJ, DT and JT, Rob Lowe , Robin Shaw and Maurice Joyce. Thanks also to David Barrington and Tony Cook for organising our officiating of the Women's shot putt.
