A disappointing day
There was not much to cheer about for either of our Senior teams at Withdean Stadium in this fairly innocuous, limited events(13),one to score meeting. In fact, the return of the Stadium to Athletics after several years as a temporary home for B&H Albion's football team, was, perhaps, more comforting.
Highlight of the Men's competition was Andy Wheble's PB to win the Discus at 44m82;in fact he had 3/4 trials over 44m. Sprinters Jordan Smith-Bent(100/200 11.25/22.44) and Justin Green(11.20/22.66) looked in reasonable form, but, with no runners to contest 800,1500 & 3000,we were never in the hunt for a place in the Final. We ended up 5th/7 with 57pts.
With our Under 17s on duty at the Lily B,there was a chance for a few others in the Women's comp.,but only Harriet Lester and Camilla Thrush were present. The latter placed 2nd in DT(32.20) and JT,whilst the former long-jumped 4.57,her 2012 best. The team were, understandably, last of those which appeared.
