The team completed their final match,on the Sussex Coast, with a 4th place and consolidated their top-half 8th placing/16,finishing 4th/2nd/2nd/1st/4th,overall with 12 League Points.
The Mens team, mustering just 11,managed to cover most of their 19 events, thanks to some extensive multi-eventing,notably from Bilen Ahmet(9 events scoring, plus 2 NS), Loic Malroux(7 events, inc a fine DT PB of 40.34,and one in the HT,too) and Patrick Hillyer and Aidan Fahey(5 events each). There were some particularly notable achievements from joint TM,Gordon Lester, who tackled the 2000 Steeplechase, and from U20 Aidan Fahey, who gallantly loped round a 5000 in the cause.
There were wins for Adam Bellis(400A) & Jonathan Darby(800A),with Loic and Bilen also picking up four pointers whilst Nikolaj Schubert improved his 400 PB to 55.5,taking 2B.
The Women were bolstered by Dominique Blaize's presence again at the track where she gave notice of her future in the sport with a fine LJ PB of 4m62 as a 12 year old, almost exactly 12 years ago to the day(2.9.2000)! Winning all her 5 individual events comfortably, plus running both relays, seriously helped the team, and with her TM Mum almost as active and Pippa Wingate,Laura Cook and Harriet Lester(matching her brother in the 'chase) all claiming 2 or more wins, there was respectability and much commitment from a rather small complement. Pippa Wingate's 48.35 Hammer win was arguably the best mark of the meeting.
Well done to TMs,Clare,Gordon and Tom Parry - and thanks to our travelling officials including Debbie Vernon,David Dyer and David Hillyer. Full results - TPoT and on the SAL website.
