Race 1 2012/13 season held at Roehampton Vale by Thames Hare & Hounds (Debbie Raymond)
As usual the course was squelchy in places after recent rain along with some gravelly sections. A 2-lap course which confused some runners meaning they did just the 1 lap so the results have been taking a while to be sorted out.
We had 8 athletes on the starting line in the senior/vets race as well as a guest. The 8 was made up of 3 seniors and 5 vets. We are in division 2 again this season.
1st home was myself 25th (29.49) followed by Rachel Brookes, 33rd, a minute later. Nicky Atkins, 44th, just over another minute later. Natalie Sacre was 51st in 32.35 and Nicki Murphy 64th in 33.53 to complete the ‘A’ team and placing us 8th team of 18.
Backing us up was Rosaline Darby 89th, Clare Nelson 125th and Caroline Jeffcote 131st of 150 division 2 runners. Our guest runner Jo Aherne is thought to not have completed the 2 laps but as she is a guest she does not score. We hope she joins K&P soon and becomes part of our team
Sadly, there was no Johanna Gibbons, Jo Bourne or Liz Richardson. We look forward to them being with us for future events. I was unable to stay for the junior races but understand we did well.
U17s and U15s run together but score separately as teams. We had 2 U17s and 1 U15. Come on we need more!!
Phoebe Law showed her excellence at running finishing 2nd in 13.16 in the U17 race while Laura Cook finished 13th of 22. New runner to the Surrey Ladies League was Ellie Arnfield finishing 19th of 26th in the U15 race.
For the first time in years we almost had a team of U13s with 3 athletes. Another young athlete showing great potential is Darcy Bourne in 4th followed by Mollie O’Sullivan in 10th and Rebecca Keddie in 21st of 40. We are strong competitors for a top 3 final placing at the end of the season if we have just 1 more U13 athlete…
Next race 1st December Nonsuch Park
