Not quite October but news just in from Germany!! Mark Reed ran a storming 10k in Grimmaer on 25th Sept,just losing top spot but in a nippy 33.01,whilst the day after,wife Catherine completed her first-ever Marathon in Berlin in 3.57.01.

The 16th witnessed the Surrey Vets Champs on Ranelagh's Richmond Park course(organisation in the capable hands of Maurice Joyce) - and it rained! Of the 137 finishers,David Barrington was 120th 51.29 & 13th M60,Mike May was 126th 52.43 & 36th M40,whilst Geoff Reed was 129th 53.16 & 23rd M55. If you really want any more,go to !

The very next day,6 members contested the first of David Denton's RonHill Surrey Classic 10ks at Nonsuch Park.Out of a field of 283,Graeme Horstead led K&P home in 38th 39.30,then Graham Huntley(M50) 100th 44.48,Dave Gibbons(M50) 148th 48.15,Liz Richardson 150th 48.19,Matthew Hyett 173rd 50.33 & Johanna Gibbons 190th 51.57. Also on the 17th,Nicky Atkins,running in the 26.2 colours,placed 454th in the Cabbage Patch 10m in 77.45.

Mark Reed,in Poole Runners colours,continued his recent form with a 7th place in 16.28 in the first of Poole's Winter Series from Boscombe Pier on the 15th.

In the first of the winter's Sportshall matches,K&P fared pretty well - The Under 13 Boys were 2nd & 6th;the Under 15 Boys were also 2nd. In the Girls matches,the U13s were 5th and the U15s 5th & 7th.Individually,Richard Smeaton(U13B) was 5th= with 44pts;Josh Diffley(5th 48) & Neal Renfer(7th 42) shone in the U15B group;whilst in the Girls Under 13s,Lucy Jones was an outstanding winner with 47 points. There was an excellent mixed turnout for the Bank of England match in Richmond park on the30th with 18 answering the call including 3 from the women's squad.Of the 50 finishers,Ant Budarkiewicz led us in at 4th(26.57),followed by Andy Arbour(6th 27.35) & Ray Allen(7th 29.10). The others were Humphrey Waddington 10th 30.30,Graeme Horstead 13th 30.46,a back in action Bob McDonough 18th 31.23,then Rachel Burbridge(the first lady - and that's NOT Mrs Bush) 23rd 32.02,Dina Kalonji 27th 32.53,Graham Huntley 30th 33.28,another welcome returnee from injury Peter Wilkins 33rd 34.30,Mike Elliot 34th 35.19,Nicky Atkins 36th 36.12,Ian Richardson(that's Liz's man) 37th 36.32,Dave Gibbons 39th 36.44,David Barrington 41st 37.30,Liz herself 44th 38.37,Geoff Reed 46th 39.31 & Mike May 48th 40.57.
