Three more new Club Records and six County Champions at the Surreys
Two County Champions at the Middlesex
Some 35 K&P members represented their Boroughs at this year's festival and,as one hopes, plenty of them exceeded their previous best performances. It is,though,a tough ask to qualify for the Surrey team for the English Schools, this year in Birmingham on July 6th - Surrey, being one of the larger counties, usually has an allocation of 60 athletes all told and most,if not all, of them will have to have achieved the Schools National Standard to even be considered for selection. If it's a 'vintage' year, even a National Standard may not be enough. Some will have been selected for the Schools Inter County on June 15th at Basingstoke, which will likely be their last chance saloon. We shall see!
The three new Club Record Holders - Sophie Dimbleby took 2nd in the Junior Girls Javelin(U15) with 27.05,improving upon Rahannah Gillette-Vernon's mark;Neil Wellard raced into 3rd with a hefty new PB of 9.24.33 in the Intermediate Boys(U17) 3000,taking Rhys Beynon's 25 year-old mark, also set in the County Schools at Motspur Park in 1988(at which your Ed. was present!);and Phillip Bearman in 2nd reduced his own Inter Boys 1500 Steeplechase(U17) mark to 4.45.0.
The County Champions were Alex Mackintosh(SB HJ 1.81),Phoebe Law(IG 1500 4.48.43) and our 4 SGs - Nicole Kendall(200),Layla Thompson(800),Mae Thompson(400H) and Alex Bartle(Hammer).
Congratulations to all!

Some 9 members, mainly from Grey Court, contested these midweek Champs, with Harry Reynolds duly taking the JB U15 1500 in 4.24.71,and sister Rhianna winning the JG U15 Long Jump at 4.69.Of the others,Alex Meaklim triple-jumped to within 3cms of Josh Diffley's U15 Boys Club record in finishing 2nd at 12.20.
Charlie Philips(2nd JB 300 38.93) and Laura Darcey(2nd IG HJ 1.51) were also silver-medalists in their events, with Darren Meaklim in 4th(JB HJ 1.60) and Aaron Bruce in 9th in the U15B 800 with a PB 2.20.22.
Having already achieved the Junior Boys 1500 National Standard, there appears to be every chance Harry Reynolds will be selected for the English Schools in July. There might be an outside chance for Alex Meaklim in the JB Triple, but he was 2nd.
