Still very tight at the Top in both matches and all to play for at Woking
Whilst the turnout at Eton was pretty small,it was a very pleasant evening and the match at Woking on July 17th will decide who wins the two Divisional Titles. In the Men's, St Mary's head Kingston & Poly by just one League point - 26.5/263 to 25.5/263 - with Walton 3rd and Epsom & BA vieing for the 4th place in August's Final at Kingston. In the Women's,Walton and Epsom are level for the Trophy, give or take 6 match points - 25/188 to 25/182.
The absence of the appointed Starter meant track events had to be started by hooter or whistle, and this will prevent all performances being officially recognised,at least nationally. The field events will pass muster, though.
K&P won the mens match 58 pts to SMR's 56 and Walton 51 - there were wins for Max Perez-Diaz(400),Chris Hall(110H/200 15.8/22.7),Bilen Ahmet(TJ 11.72),TM Chris Dack(DT 41.69) and the 4 x 200 squad of Bilen,Max,Loic Malroux and Jason-Louis Bernard(1.37.0) and we were again indebted to Bilen for covering the 800/1500 in the total absence of any distance runners - we had to forego the 3000,so we did well to win with that handicap. Also present were Mark Roberts,Steve Simmonds,Richard Holt and Mike May.
The Women were,as they say, conspicuous by their total absence, save for Gill Broderick as taxi-driver!
