A fine performance at Croydon
Ebbisham League Match 2 CROYDON June 9th BY TM Gill Broderick
Match 2 at Croydon on 9th June marked the debut of some new ‘extraordinary’ talent which complimented the regular AND talented athletes – Kingston were now 100% strong in every event, thus taking us to score equally in first place with the ‘mights’ of Herne Hill Harriers and beating Croydon on their home ground. Parents, athletes and K&P Officials were awarded a delightful day of exciting competition by the boys. K & P have arrived. They turned out a top team which caused HHH & Croydon to panic!

Good partnership with Sam and Ben P in the 800m – max points. Sam earning the most points as an individual. But very impressed with all the boys pulling together, to make this a great day. In the 1500m, Daniel rang an impressive time – this being a personal best at the time (which he has since lowered.) Same goes to Arun, Ben A, Ben P, Blaize and Sam – whose performances greatly improved in the final match.

The most impressive performances of the day came from Harry, Oscar, Charlie, Alex, Max, and the 4 x 200m quartet who were some 70m ahead at the finish. Souleyman took a quick glance back after crossing the line as 4th runner and had a double look – he could not believe that the team finished so far ahead. I have never ever seen the U15s sprint relay team beat the incredibly fast HHH. Everybody was screaming and cheering. It was fortunate that we had available to us four sprinters, who could really move. Unfortunately for Max, who became injured could not be part of the team but we had the equally fast Alex Meaklim – who had ran 12.1 in a non scoring 100m.
While for some of the U15s, they will move up, but fortunately, we have a few U15s who remain and some talented U13s coming up!
