FA's 150th Anniversary celebrations
Whilst I trust I will not be 'struck off' for mentioning football on this site, those of you who were members of Polytechnic Harriers before the merger in 1985 will remember sharing the centrefield and the cinder track at the Poly Stadium at Chiswick with our Poly colleagues from the Football Club Section.
As one of the oldest amateur football clubs, playing in the Southern Amateur Football League, the club have been invited, along with their Chiswick-based colleagues,Civil Service FC,by the Football Association and their President,William,Duke of Cambridge to play the first-ever football match, and likely the last-ever, on the hallowed turf of Buckingham Palace Gardens as part of the FA's 150th Anniversary celebrations,by kind permission of Her Majesty,The Queen. The match takes place on Monday,October 7th.
Bravo,Poly FC - May K&P still be going strong for their 150th.
PS And no trampling across the flowerbeds in your hob-nailed boots chasing the ball, lads, please.
