id1560-David Barrington & the next chapter

Written by DBl

As I am sure you are all aware David Barrington has made the decision to retire from his numerous roles within the KACPH committee, for those long standing members of the club you will have a good idea of all the work David has put into the club, although it has to be said that even myself as a member of K&P for around 18 years had very little idea of exactly how much David done for the Club until we sat down for our first handover meeting.  For those who know David well, you will be well aware of how he doesn't us like us bragging out about the huge amount of time and effort he has put into the Sport.

For those of you who might be less aware David has been involved with the club since 1984 and played a huge part of amalgamating of Surrey & Kingston AC and London Polytechnic Harriers since then he has held various posts such as BAL Team Manager, General Secretary, Membership Secretary, Officials Secretary, Website Publisher, Statistician, Mini bus driver, as well as taking on numerous roles of organising leagues such as the Rosenheim, Lily B, Cross County.  There is an endless list of things, David has done for us over the years and the words cannot describe the Thanks and appreciation he is due from all us at KACPH.  Without David we would not the club we are today, and our new General Secretary team have very big shoes to fill, hopefully there is safety in numbers!

With David retiring it is now more than ever, extremely important that we pull together as a club to ensure that the high standard he has set us doesn't drop.  The committee has a never ending list of things to do and if there is anything you think you could do to help it would be greatly appreciated, the Cross County season has started and we are always in desperate need of people to help officiate, cheer and even compete in the various leagues. Please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. David, we hope you have a fantastic holiday, and look forward to your return as our favourite spectator and cheerleader!
