Susanne Dietrich reports from the Stoke Park Cross Country relays …
"I have to report from a fantastic 1st outing of our runners at the Surrey County stage, the Stoke Park Cross Country relays. Many of our runners feature in the top half of the individual rankings, and of those who ran last year, most equalled or improved last year’s times – some significantly (see details below).
We had a number of novices out, with U11s bravely running with the U13s, and sprinters displaying some amazing level of endurance. And as always, our runners showed outstanding team spirit with Josh and Harry running despite a niggling injury and a lasting cold, respectively. My woman of the day is Rebecca who was in intensive care a few weeks ago and is still recovering, yet she came out to ensure that we had an U15 girls’ team. Guys- you are great!
The highlight of the day clearly was the U13 boys race. Daniel and Olly were mowed down in the stampede at the start, and still ran fantastic times. Not only that – Daniel came round in an excellent 11th place; Jorge took over and moved the team to 3rd, giving Sam the platform for a glorious Kingston and Poly win! Superb!"
