id1604-Surrey Ladies XC results - Roehampton Vale

Written by Debbie Raymond

Saturday was a beautiful sunny morning for a cross country race after so many days of torrential rain. However, this meant the course was truly soggy and extremely muddy!

The senior ladies managed to field enough runners for 2 teams.  Layla Thompson as an U20 was first back in 19th, followed by Jo Bourne running in long spikes for the first time in 25th. Nicky Atkins came home in 39th, myself 48th and Jo Aherne in 59th. The team currently lie 5th of 18 A teams. The B team comprised of Nicky Murphy (73rd) Rosaline Darby (79th) Avelline Deighton (85th) Susannah Darby (155th) and Caroline Jeffcote having taken a tumble in a muddy stretch (157th). There were 360 runners in the combined Division 1 & 2 race.

The next race was the U17/U15 girls. Sadly we had just 1 athlete in the U17 race.  Laura Cook finished 6th of 13 leaving us in bronze position for the final match next month. The U15s had a complete team of 4. Mollie O’Sullivan led the team home in 3rd place, Isabella Busa in 21st, Rebecca Keddie in 26th and Alexandra Shaw 34th leaving the team in 4th position.

The U13s also had a team of 4. Darcy Bourne headed the team home in 12th, with Annabel Hobday and Amelia Bell in 36th and 27th followed by Imogen Busa in 36th. There were 56 girls running in this race in total. The team currently lie in 5th with 339 points just 2 points behind DMV team.

Looking forward to the next race:
