id1636-Lily B Match Report - Lily Glee...

K & P continued their growing reputation as a club, with a huge 90 point victory in the opening fixture of the season; we travelled down to Guildford in force and an amazing turnout to an away fixture saw our athletes produce some really superb performances, in fact so many were there that it`s almost impossible to single anyone out, but I will try and pick a few starting with Pippa and Mollie from the under 15’s.

Mollie has become a national class athlete over the past year, and showed her club loyalty by winning the 1500m at a canter and also throwing the discus for valuable points. Pippa likewise has excelled recently and won all her events including a PB over hurdles and victory in the long jump. The under 13`s  had PB`s from Amelia Bell 100m she also won her 200m.  Lucy Tunnacliffe who had a 200m PB of 29.9 and weighed in with victory in the shot. Also victorious or gaining PB`s in the under 13`s were Hettie Arnfield, Hannah Lester, Nellwyn Ackroyd, Darcy, Zoë, Jessica, Louisa and Gemma.

The defining difference between the teams in the end was our under 17 turnout, it was tremendous and with all of our athletes competing in the maximum number of events we amassed a huge number of points. Many thanks in particular to those who did events way outside their normal comfort zone, this is what makes Kingston different, everyone is always willing to “give it a go for a point” We accumulated by far the largest total of points in this age group, so excellent effort girls and  please keep coming all season.

I think the meeting is best summed up by the fact that K+P athletes are a team!  Two examples from this meeting that shone out for me are Caitlin Dimbleby from the under 17`s who despite being injured and unable to run competed in 3 field events scoring loads of valuable points. The second was and the sheer joy of the under 11 and under 13 relay teams who despite the downpour just as the relays started ran their hearts out and showed such joy in victory and runners up positions; their sheer exuberance was a fitting end to what had been a long but very successful day for the whole team.

A huge thank you to everyone parents, coaches, officials and of course the athletes for getting us off to such a great start to the season.
