K&P storm to 2nd place in U13/U15 YDL match
When the day started with two dropouts due to injury and illness, we could not have foreseen that it would end with our best team performance of the season. This time, however, we were able to send out a strong U15 boys’ team. We also had a number of strong newcomers bolstering the team, and last not least everyone was willing to fill any of the gaps. The first score updates showed Bracknell running away with it, but only very few points separated 2nd to 6th place.
This showed just how important every single point was, and out athletes fought hard in the last events to make sure of an excellent 2nd place for the team. The relays were the highlight of the day, with wins for the U13 boys’ and U15 girls’ 4x100 squads, and 2nd places in the U13 girls’ 4x100 and U15 girls’ 4x300 races. The U13 girls (Hannah Lester, Jasmine Woodrooffe, Lucy Tunnacliffe, Amelia Bell) in their spectacular run annihilated the 4x100m Club record, improving it by nearly 2 seconds.

We are now in 4th place in the league, but only 0.5 points separate 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. With our home match to finish this year’s YDL season, we have all but secured our place in division 1. Another performance like on Sunday may even catapult us to 2nd place in the division, which would be a fantastic result for a newly promoted side.
The last YDL match is on Saturday 19 July at Kingsmeadow.
We are one of the biggest and friendliest athletics clubs in London and compete across a huge array of leagues, events and championships and have athletes of literally all standards and ages and across all events.
Whether you are an 8 year old novice, a senior international or a “more mature” athlete looking to get back into the sport – we can help you achieve your goals.
We cater for runners, jumpers, throwers and multi-eventers on the track, in the field, on the roads or over the country and are based at Kingsmeadow in Kingston-upon-Thames (KT1 3PB). We'll be very happy to help you with your sport – so please just get in touch and we'll do all we can to assist.
