Saturday 18th October seven women and four men competed in the Surrey Master Cross Country Champs, Richmond Park. The afternoon was sunny but breezy with a short shower of rain during the men’s race. K&P managed to declare three teams – WV35, WV45 – race distance 6k, & MV50-59 race distance 10k. The course which we all decided was tough was dry, stony, uneven with enduring hills.
Liz Richardson was our leading lady 28.51 (39th) followed by Nicky Atkins 29.30 (50th), Nicki Murphy 31.10 (71st), Avelline Deighton 32.15 (74th), Rosaline Darby 32.45 (77th), Melanie Mason 35.51 (89th). Unfortunately Dina Francis did not finish as she sustained an injury during the race. Liz, Nicky A and Avelline made up the WV35 team just missing out on 3rd place by 7 points.
Over to the men. Rupert Bole was first past the finishing post in 47.31 (64th) followed by David Greenfield 49.19 (70th), Geoff Reed, running in the 55-59 age group, 55.56 (75th) and Mike Edwards 57.01 (76th).
It was tough but we commented on how we all enjoyed ourselves.
