For the second match in the YDL season we sent out a nearly full team to Guildford, and it made a huge difference to the result. Already the Hillingdon match had shown that the midfield in our division is very tight between Hillingdon, Camberley, Dorset and us, but we still ended up 50 points behind Hillingdon and Camberley. This time we were already in 3rd place when the first score was announced, even though in the final stages only 5 points separated us from Hillingdon and Camberley. Determined performances in the relays decided the battle in our favour, resulting in a very satisfying 3rd place.
Provisional team scores:
Guildford & Godalming AC
Camberley & District AC
City of Portsmouth AC
Thames Valley Harriers
Kingston AC & Polytechnic H

An improved turnout and good performances, not least in the relays, this time gave us the edge over Hillingdon and Camberley in the very tight midfield of our division. The points from this match have put quite some space between us and the relegation positions, so we can now enjoy the rest of the season a bit more relaxed - with hopefully plenty more excellent individual and team performances to celebrate.
The next YDL match is on Sunday (!) 21 June in Portsmouth.
