id1735-SAL Match 3 - Wimbledon

Written by Gordon Lester

Following on from two successful wins at Twickenham and Lewes, we travelled to Wimbledon on a hot and humid day, with exceptionally strong teams for both Men and Women, filling all but a small number of events over the day.

Team managers were both a bag of nerves with everything crossed for a third win against relatively tough teams. Everyone pulled out all the stops, with many officials travelling from morning commitments to help us out, athletes keen to help fill events they would not normally and those all important spectators who cheered everyone on and kept spirits up throughout the day!

It was a PB filled day with Caitlin Dimbleby Vaulting 3.10m and Will Trimble throwing a Javelin for the first time in years with a massive 60.10m. There was numerous other excellent performances, and a great team atmosphere with athletes cheering each other on leading to a third win of the season. COME ON KINGSTON!

As always we end with a plea to all athletes and officials alike to help this winning streak continue at our HOME FIXTURE on the 4th July. Home meetings are always a stretch on volunteers at the club, if anyone can help out even if just for a few hours many hands make light work. "
