Match 3, Monday 29th June, of the SCVAC K&P women’s team was at Walton’s track with Walton AC hosting. On a lovely warm summer’s evening Gill Broderick won the 2000m walk, over 50. Liz Richardson ran 3 events: 800m, 200m and 5000m with very little recovery time in-between. Caroline Jeffcoat ran the 800m. Joan ran her début vets league 200m over 60 age group and won. Nicki Murphy ran 200m and yours truly did the 2000m walk, 800m, 200m and 5000m, just getting round for points as suffering from a cold. The 4 x 200m relay consisted of Joan , Gill , Nicki Murphy and Caroline and finished 2nd to Epsom and Ewell Harriers.

Out in the field Caroline threw the shot for the first time. Gill threw the shot and hammer in which she attained a PB 16.65m. Nicki Murphy threw the hammer and jumped high and triple. In all the above events I am pleased to say that the team scored high points.

I am delighted to say that although the K&P women’s team were few in number, with team commitment and flexibility we finished 2nd on the day and still are in 2nd position overall to Epsom and Ewell Harriers.

Our 4th and final match will be Monday 13th July at Croydon Arena with Croydon Harriers and Striders of Croydon hosting. If anyone can help officiate or support you are most welcome. K&P are responsible for officiating the women’s discus throw at 6.30pm.
