Our U13 and U15 Boys’ Athletic teams surpassed my already high expectation to win as they stormed home with 176 points with both U13 and U15 winning their respective age group. Team Result: 1st K&P 176, 2nd Herne Hill 155, 3rd Dorking Mole Valley 125, 4th = Croydon, Walton 120, Epsom & Ewell 53. The final match on Sunday was exhilarating and thrilling with K&P taking a high percentage of double A & B wins. From the first event of track hurdles and Triple jump, we deservedly took our lead and were never caught, albeit Herne Hill were only about 9 points behind two third of the way through, before 200m, 1500m, discus, 300m and relays were added. We had U13s Michael Webb-Bourne and Theo McChesney (from Kestrels’ group) stepping up to hurdle for the first time and filling in the 1500m B gap was Sebastian even though he had an injury in his thigh. This showed the spirit and the future champions of Kingston.
We stay in DIV 1 with Herne Hill having won M1 & M2, therefore we finished the Ebbisham season in 2nd place – having beaten off strong competition from ever growing Walton and Dorking Mole Valley, who were far more of a threat than Croydon. Croydon, realising that they could be in trouble of being relegated after two poor placing in M1 and M2, pulled out their best in M3 but they could only make it to 4th equal. K & P Team came away with thirteen 1sts (A & B scorers) five 2nds, seven 3rds, five 4ths and two 5ths. No-on in 6th!
HIGHLIGHT: During M2, Congratulations to Olly Wilson claimed the U13 1500m club record in 4.45.6 and he is 12 years old! Olly has also taken the club 800m record (in another athletic league) in his last year in this age group. This augers well for our 2016 middle distance running as he will join Jorge Beltrao, and new athletes Eric Williams and Ollie Haines-Francis for 2016.
HIGHLIGHT Number 2: U13 4 x 200m relay team of: Luca di Libero, Thomas White, Olly Wilson and Dylan Dyson-Holland BROKE the K&P Club record with 1.58.2. Something that they have been trying to do all season (and last as well.) The U15s relay of Luke Newell, Che Dyson-Holland, Sam Shaw and Sol Harris-Woodfin – the latter two having not long before winning A&B 300m, but Sol holding of a challenge from Croydon’s 4th athlete to bring the U15 4 x 200m squad home in 3rd.
Our U11s were reinforced well by Alfie Westley, Charlie White, Tom Wilson (surnames which we know already). Plus newcomer Nico Luckman who was quick over 75m in 11.4 and 150m in 23.4. New U13 sprinter, Sonny Cruikshank, from Kestrels, ran 100m in 14.4. U17 non scoring Triple jumper Freddy Garnham jumped well for 11.91m, and has been consistent in this event, improving in experience and skill.
ATHLETES OF THE MATCH:
Match 2 U13: Olly Wilson for breaking the club 1500m record. U15: Jorge Beltrao for doing discus, 300m, getting a season’s best in 800m, and then running the relay.
Match 3 U13: Luca di Libero for stepping out of his comfort zone (and did HJ) and being joint top scorer with 12 points (not including relay.) U15: Beckett Whiting for PB performances in HJ 1.50m, shot of 10.10m & hurdles Top scorer with 15 points.
I would like to mention outstanding A & B firsts by the middle distance duo of Sam Shaw and Sol Harris-Woodfin in the 800m, 300m and relay. But on the day, everyone was a champion and I only wish we had T shirts for them all! They commanded these events.
Thanks to all parents, Richard White, Jane Newell, Renzo di Libero, and Eduardo Beltrao for helping out with official duties in the field. And, to our K&P officials of Maurice Joyce, Frank Schubert and Susanne Dietrich for always coming and supporting the team and taking on field duties.
Here’s a table of all results from the three meetings (not including non scorers.)

In finishing, I can only echo that this season for Ebbisham has been the most fulfilling year. And so final thanks are going to all the athletes listed in this table, who turned out for us and have given their all in every match and I hope the athletes have enjoyed competing and watching others just as much as I have together with the parents.
We are one of the biggest and friendliest athletics clubs in London and compete across a huge array of leagues, events and championships and have athletes of literally all standards and ages and across all events.
Whether you are an 8 year old novice, a senior international or a “more mature” athlete looking to get back into the sport – we can help you achieve your goals.
We cater for runners, jumpers, throwers and multi-eventers on the track, in the field, on the roads or over the country and are based at Kingsmeadow in Kingston-upon-Thames (KT1 3PB). We'll be very happy to help you with your sport – so please just get in touch and we'll do all we can to assist.
