id1743-SCVAC Final Match - Women's

Written by Nicky Atkins

&P’s final SCVAC meeting was on Monday 13th July at Croydon Arena. The weather remained dry until the close of the meeting despite a strong wind down the home straight. I am glad to say that again the ladies team worked well together to fill as many events  as possible and in doing so was rewarded by another excellent 2nd place finish to Epsom & Ewell Harriers.

Highlights of the meeting were Avelline’s debut triple jump which scored maximum points, Joan wining the 100m W60, Susanne doing likewise in the 2000m walk W35, triple jump and high jump W50. The relay is always exciting and the  4 x 100m was no exception as K&P ladies  past the finishing post 1.3 seconds ahead of Striders of Croydon.

Thanks to these athletes who competed and made 2nd place finishing possible: Susanne Dietrich, Caroline Jeffcote, Joan Trimble, Gill Broderick, Liz Richardson, Avelline Deighton and Nicky Atkins.

After the four meetings K&P finished 2nd place (487 points) out of seven clubs, to Epsom & Ewell Harriers (610 points); Dorking, women, did not compete in any of the four meetings.

A big thank you to all K&P athletes who competed in these meetings, all officials who made these meetings possible and to everyone who supported.

There’s a few more track and field meetings to go before the end of the summer season and then we shall head into the winter season for personally my favourite event – cross country.
