As always, the month is a busy one for the cross country fraternity - Lloyd Park,Croydon hosts the annual Surrey Champs on the 8th(first race off at 11 am),though K&P limits itself to male entries this year, with the Under 20 men's quartet of Craig Price,Humphrey Waddington,Michael Huntley & Matthew Boddy in with a team medal chance.Otherwise we field a senior team plus Dina Kalonji,a lone entry in the U17 men.
The following weekend,it's all action with the penultimate races in both Surrey Leagues;the MAXSports-supported Ladies League is again in Richmond Park, this time over Ranelagh's course(ko at 12.30) and they will hope to consolidate their improved form in match two and stay clear of the four teams currently below them in the Div 1 table. In the younger groups, the club is looking to further progress from Harriet Owens & Charlie Kelly. Over in Oxshott Woods(first race at 2.30)(see - www.dltk-kids.com/crafts/teddy/teddypicnic.html),the Sweatshop-supported Men's League Seniors will seek to widen the gap from the chasing group and put themselves within closer reach of Div. One for the first time as K&P. A clash with the Middlesex Champs wont help so a very positive early approach on a narrow and twisty course is the order of the day.
On the 22nd,those selected for their Borough Schools teams will contest the Surrey Schools Champs, again back at Reigate's Priory Park(first race at 10 am),for which the reward for leading performances will be an English Schools Championships place.
And,on the last Saturday of the month(29th from 1pm),from Kingston Gate in Richmond Park,K&P host our annual Stan Belton Invitation Schools races coupled with Club Championships for all but the senior & u20 men.On the same day,the senior men contest the South of England Champs at Parliament Hill.
