Since June 30th Andy’s done Wimbledon, Chris has won the Tour, the football has been forgotten, England and Pakistan are still ‘batting’ it out ….. and K&P have been Clubmark Accredited!

On Thursday 30th June we were assessed by England Athletics on our training programmes, risk assessments, health and safety policies, training and child protection policies, our equity in member recruitment and the general running of our organisation. We passed all of that with flying colours. Thanks to our Welfare Officers-Gillian and Cashel also Susan, Beverley, Les and the many other committee and non-committee members who played their part on the night and for many months beforehand.

What this means is that we have a nationally recognised award for OUR sports club.

As a result of this we hope our club will continue to improve and develop. Some of the aspects we hope to benefit from as a result of gaining Clubmark includes attracting new members of all ages and involving more parents and club members as volunteers. We will continue to ensure our coaches receive training and have the appropriate qualifications to maintain standards and hope that this will attract those who have considered coaching young people. Clubmark can raise a club’s profile with local councils, National Governing Bodies and other sporting and community bodies, so hopefully making any funding applications we apply for more seriously considered as a result of being Clubmark Accredited.

We want to continue to provide a club that addresses safeguarding and equity issues seriously and gives parents confidence when considering a club for their children.

You will soon see the Club using the Clubmark logo, a universal brand, recognising quality clubs across more than 50 sports.

We hope to have a presentation on the evening of the 30th August (TBC) by Julia Bailey, from England Athletics, of our Certificate. It will be a photo opportunity for all club members and we would like as many people as possible in Club vests to participate. We are hoping to do this at about 6.50pm. Details will be confirmed nearer the time.

Many thanks to Ros for spearheading this initiative!
