Lily B Match day 1 – Sutton
06th May 2017
After a great League win last year and coming narrowly 2nd in the Cup, the Lily B league is back upon us again.
Whilst the rain stayed away it was quite cold throughout the day thanks to a gusty breeze. This made it difficult
for the athletes to compete at their best, however there were still many PBs especially as we have many
newcomers.
=1 Epsom & Ewell 298
=1 Guildford & Godalming 298
3 Kingston AC & Poly Harriers 237.5
4 Sutton District 192.5
5 Holland Sports 68
6 Dorking & Mole Valley 34
It was good to see 4 girls turn out for our U11’s and it was made all the sweeter as they could also enter the
relay. We welcome newcomers Eva Cerilli and Preeti Gawander.
Our U13 team was a little light with only 8 girls but it was good to have 4 newcomers here in Nia Gardner, Ella
Slone, Evie Priest and Nelly Priest.
We had a strong turn out for the U15’s with a total of 12 girls. This included 3 newcomers so we also welcome
Madeleine Scott, Martha Hill and Rosie Cotton.
For our U17’s our small team of 6 due to GCSEs meant it was difficult to fill events. One newcomer in Gabbie
Icmat competed for the first time for us in the Lily B. Welcome to the team.
Athlete of the match T-shirts to Sophie Doherty (U13’s) winning all 3 of her events with 2 PBs, Jojo Mclean
(U15’s) with a massive 1500m PB and Gabbie Icmat (U17’s) with 2 wins and a PB in the 800m.
Thank you also to Frank Schubert, Susanne Dietrich, Rory McFarlane, Brian McLean, Paul Tunnacliffe Louise
and Gerard Doherty for helping out on the day with official duties. Team coaching and warm ups from Pat
Logan and Susanne. Please accept my apologies if I have missed anyone.
Next up is the Lily B Match on 3rd June 2017 at Croydon AC. We will be up against Guildford & Godalming
again also Herne Hill Harriers (joint 1st in Match 2) who are strong. We hope to put out a larger team next time
round and push for the win.
Finally, I hope you had a good day and look forward to seeing you soon.
