After a tough season last year where we finished 5th out of the eleven teams, the Lily B league is back upon us again.
We couldn’t have wished for a better day with the beautiful sunshine beating down on us all day. With such a hot day you would have thought it would have made it difficult for the athletes to compete at their best, however there were still many PBs especially as we have many newcomers.
Guildford & Godalming
Kingston AC & Poly Harriers
Herne Hill Harriers
Dorking & Mole Valley
We were Match2 on Saturday and came a solid 2nd to Guildford & Godalming. If we fill a few more of the empty spaces on our team-sheet next time, we may get closer!
In the other Match1 there were 6 clubs competing with Epsom & Ewell winning on the day ahead of Croydon.
It was fantastic to see 7 girls turn out for our U11’s, 6 of which are newcomers! We welcome newcomers Lara Antar, Genevieve Lowe, Caitlin Pemberton, Rosie-May Stavert, Saran Rai and Amelia Rowbotham.
Our U13 team was a little light with only 8 girls but it was good to have 2 newcomers here in Zana Anderson and Caitlyn Harvey.
We had a stronger turn out for the U15’s with a total of 9 girls. This included 3 newcomers so we also welcome Alice Clutterbuck, Maleehah and Tejal Ramphul.
For our U17’s our team of 8 due to GCSEs meant it was difficult to fill events (there are more events in this age group). No newcomers in this age group this match but we will have some join us in the next match at Croydon.
Athlete of the match T-shirts go to Ava John (U13’s) winning 2 of her events with 2 PBs, Kira Holt (U15’s) with 2 wins and 3 PBs and Anna Gawander (U17’s) picking up 17 points out of a maximum of 18 with 2 wins (PB in the Discus!) and a 2nd place!
Thank you also to Frank Schubert for officiating, Kate Atkins, Maurice John, John Lester and Rory MacFarlane for helping on the day with official duties.Team coaching and warm ups from Pat Logan. Please accept my apologies if I have missed anyone.
Next up is the Lily B Match on 3rd June 2017 at CroydonAC. We will be up against Guildford & Godalming again also Herne Hill Harriers (joint 1st in Match 2) who are strong. We hope to put out a larger team next time round and push for the win.
Finally, I hope you had a good day and look forward to seeing you soon.
Individual results are shown overleaf. Amazingly we had 6 athletes who recorded PBs in all three of their events on the day (excludes newcomers where event is a PB)! No pictures this time as we didn’t have a photographer but should do next time.
Full Match day results can be found here on the Power of 10 (Newcomers, please on your child’s name and you will get their personal profile).
Thanks to you all
