Warm and blustery weather greeted the boys at the Epsom and Ewell track. We were armed with strong , FULL U15 team and U13 team of 7 for the second DIV 1 match. The standard in this match is extremely high, the talent from other clubs is phenomenal for this age group but our boys performed with resilience and just got on with what that had to do.
U11s Thomas Perrin, Samuel James, Adam Claudet (non scoring events). U13s Sam Bishop, Jacob Landau, Angus Strachan, Nico Clarke, Harry Walker, Louis Churchill, Oliver (Ollie) Cooke. U15s Albert Rowland, Jack Le Vesconte, Roel Sodusta, Ethan Chandler, Sam Nesbitt, Dhruv Simmonite, Tom Wilson, Charlie White, Eternal Nemiala, Oliver Palmer, Finnian Chang, Alfie Westley.

U11s – Adam ran a 600m in 1.54.2 – a new PB. He ran from the front and kept the distance between him and the field. Thomas ran a good 600m and Samuel in the 75m was quick. All three are moving up to U13s next year and this will compliment the team well for 2020. U13s: Angus ran a PB in the 100m and 200m in 13.8. and 28.6. With a god LJ 3.97 (winning jump 4.49m!) Sam in the hurdles clocked 16.0 secs an improvement by 0.5 secs. Harry’s first season in the 1500m ran 5.08.9 and the lone Kingston representative like Ollie in the 800m in 2.31.2. Ollie high jumped impressively to 1.35m with great backup from Sam – 1.15m. Nico ran an excellent 200m and LJ 3.71. Our field event athlete, Louis, threw 21.59m in JT and 13.97m in DT. Sam was busy again backing up Louis in the javelin and threw 17.92m. Relay squad ran well for 3rd place – photo finish on the line with Epsom but the Kingston team were given the 3rd place. U15s: Albert and Jack covered the 80m hds and both ran slightly faster than before. Albert then long jumped in a close competition for 3rd-6th position, with 4.43m. Finnian backed him up with a creditable 3.57m for the points. Jack and Dhruv in the HJ both cleared 1.50 (pb for Dhruv) and again very close results. Well done to Alfie and Finnian in the DT (7 points) with Alfie getting a PB in 16.10m. Our 800m boys of Sam and Dhruv – both 2nd in A & B. All I remember about this is the winner from Croydon ran the first 400m is about 62 seconds!! Then Sam started to reel him in and we thought Sam would do it; if only he had another 10m. As the Croydon athlete’s legs were collapsing. Oliver ran a PB in the B 300m in 41.8 for 3rd but the top three were almost in a row at the line! THANK you Team Kingston – you are all AMAZING.
As you can see from the table……. In our final match we need to finish above Croydon or South London to stay in DIV 1. It’s great, exciting competition and I can only hope everyone is fit. The areas we are short in are U13 field and middle distance. So any U13 with a spare event will have to do their best at an event they may not usually do.
THANKS also go to Frank Schubert and Richard White for officiating the field events for our slots and to all parents that helped in the long jump. Every help is much appreciated.
NEXT MATCH Sunday 14th JULY at Coulsdon.
