Though the weather was less kind than expected, there were a number of promising performances at this early season meeting.
From a national viewpoint, the best marks came from Commonwealth Youth Championships medalist,Joey Duck(Milton Keynes),who ran 12.08(NILw)/17.88(+2.6w) over 100/150 and from recent GB European throws rep.,Andy Frost(Woodford Green wEL),with a 67.28 HT effort.
K&P highlights included some fully-expected Club records, courtesy of Camilla Thrush(WVets SP 10.83 & OpenW/WVets HT 36.78) and of Matthew Field(U17M 100H 14.32) who both improved on their own standards set in 2004.
Otherwise,a selection,only,of the more encouraging performances included,in no particular order - Claire Stonestreet(U17W 100/300 13.25/44.12);Sarah Harris(U20W 100/300 12.98/42.09);Peter Walsh(SM 100/300 11.22/35.97);Draco Mkpa(SM 100/300 11.68/37.14);Emmanuel Olukoya(SM 100 11.71);an intriguing battle at U20 150 between Humphrey Waddington(17.89) & Craig Price(18.03);Sarah Atkins(U17W 300 44.27);Craig Price again(U20M 300/800 37.45/a solo 2.00.59));Simon Grier(SM 300 37.67;an absorbing little clash between M40 Mike May(44.64) and coach M60 Chuck Isetts(45.84) over 300;another interesting contest between training partners,Nicky Atkins(W40 800 2.54.13) & Liz Richardson(SW 800 2.54.76);Tim Atkins(U13B 800 2.53.65);Sam Turner(U15B 800 2.28.47); and Tom Stottor(U17M 2.19.25 after an est. 65 first lap!).
Then there were some sterling battles in the U13G group between Phoebe Haynes,Molly Renfer & Jenny Steinitz;an eagerly-anticipated U17M 100H scrap between Matthew Field(14.32) & Stuart Price(14.98) which lived up to its billing;plus Emily Kneebone(U15G LJ 4.50);Amy Dodd(U17W HT 20.66);Christopher Hall(5.51) & James Carroll(5.45) in the U17M LJ;Rob Smith(U20M HT 40.66) and the ubiquitous Camilla Thrush as already mentioned.
