Much encouraged by our Coaching Team, nearly 50 of our U13s/U15s/U17s heeded the calls of TMs Anna Field & Linda and Jamie Mackay for the first of this year's YAL fixtures at Perivale. The outcome was a comfortable 2nd place overall of the 8 teams(behind Epsom & Ewell) and a substantial step towards an immediate return to Divison One level. Three matches remain - two at Kingsmeadow & one at Sutton - which should not prove insurmountable journeys for all those concerned. The full result was E&E 814/K&P 711/TVH 523/Camberley 420/Hillingdon 403/HerculesW 321/Sutton&Bels 288/DMV 149 and the full results are on the noticeboard at Kingsmeadow.
A sweep through the individual results,entirely at random,would suggest we have some useful prospects in all 6 age groups. Amongst the better marks,in no particular order,were U15G Mary Iheke's 26.8 200--U13B Huw Davies' 2.45.7 800--U13G Phoebe Haynes' 13.4 70Hdls--a double U15G 75Hdls for Harriet Lester(12.6) & Lucy Jones(13.2)--similarly U17M 100Hdls by Matthew Field(14.5) & Stuart Price,who duplicated that double at SP--again at U17M,Matt posted a pb HJ at 1.83 with Prath Kaneri taking the B string--Hasanka Fonseka(55.5 which breaks Paul Speed-Andrews' 18yo club age group record by half a second) & Edward Pilkington(58.2) took both U15 400s--U15B Jan-Dominik Vogel vaulted a pb 2.10 to win the U15 event--Ciara Blake(6.33) & Francesca Currie(5.55) were unsurpassed at U13G SP--Jenny Davies took both SP/DT at U17W level--Neal Renfer made 5.02 for 2A in the U15 LJ--Josh Diffley,fresh from a fine BAL senior debut the day before,took the U17M LJ(5.98) & TJ(13.42)--Mary Iheke(43.3) & Roseanne Mackay(46.2) won both U15G 300s and,finally,we headed 3 4 x 100s - U15G 53.6/U15B 51.1 & U17M 49.3. Good start,one and all!
