Sasha's girls made a promising start to their defence of the Rosenheim Plaque with a convincing defeat of the opposition, amassing 50 pts, ahead of E&E's 33 et al. The men stuttered and but for sprinters,a couple of doughty vets and Humphrey Waddington,we would have fallen. As it was,we rallied to finish 3rd = with R&T with 41pts,but behind E&E 47 and BA 44. Feature of a cold evening was the willingness of a small handful of devotees, who had competed in the Kingston Schools Champs in the afternoon and who came back for more to support the others! Good on yer! Of the ladies, amongst others,Sarah Harris returned to win the 200(26.7),Rachel Burbridge took both 400/800(62.7/2.22.8),Alison Jones won the 3000,Lana Whatley the 400Hdls,Clare Nelson the PV and the indefatigable Camilla the SP/HT. On the men's side,Humphrey, celebrating a big 400Hdls pb in the forenoon, defied much with aplomb, ensuring we kept in touch for later matches.Elsewhere, we were pleased to assist Wheelchair internationals,David Weir & Tushar Patel, who went through the track card, event by event,in readiness for the VISA Paralympic World Cup in Manchester next weekend, and, for the Bank of England,K&P members Ross Shaddick & Jonathan Middleditch almost single-handedly carried their team(the grammatical impossibility of two people acting single-handedly is appreciated but it's just a figure of speech, chaps!). Next match at Walton on May 25th.
