The response was as dismal as the weather - but more so,with only 6 athletes in attendance. Considering the number appearing at training from time to time,it suggests that too many members, boys and girls, are happy to stay in the 'comfort zone' and are not prepared to work hard and compete - a malaise apparent throughout the UK. Shame on our education philosophers! The team finished 4th with a derisory 105 points but took 4th place overall in the regular season table and will thus contest the main Cup Final on September 17th at Kingsmeadow.
Of those that did turn up,in the U13 group,Phoebe Haynes did,as usual, display fervour, winning the HJ(1.35) & the 70H(12.2), plus a 15.1 100;Rahanna Gillette-Vernon made a brief cameo appearance at 100(16.0);and then,of the 3 U15s,Roseanne Mackay ran a pb 100(13.4) and won the DT/SP, with Harriet Lester scoring 8-pointers at 75H/JT/SP;Abi Gibbs took the U15 JT at 20.63 and,at U17,Jenny Davies took full points at SP/DT and a 2nd at JT. (Mlles Lester,Mackay,Haynes & Davies are committed performers and are exempt from any comments in this brief coverage).
