id284-SWL D2 M6 Ashford,Kent September 3rd 2005 Report

It was a good job the team was well and truly settled in upper middle table after the first 5 fixtures since a mere 12 mortals - or maybe immortals - deigned to put in an appearance. Sadly, hardly unexpected, but nonetheless extremely frustrating and irritating.Match result was : Ashford 238/SLH 179/Walton 147/ESM 133/K&P 112 and we concluded the season in 11th place in the Division(of 25).

Hats off to those there, almost all of whom took on their maximum number of events allowed - this rather shrouded their own personal preferences but it was vaguely fun(for the spectators at least). One doubts whether Liz Richardson, incidentally the only athlete to appear at all 6 matches this summer, & Nicky Atkins REALLY want to do 100/200,but they did.The more significant efforts were Rachel Burbridge's tactical victory in the 800(2.22.0) plus a useful 69.3 400H and winning marks from Roseanne Mackay(200-27.8/75H-13.8),Harriet Lester(75H-11.8) & Mary Iheke, despite recurring injury, over 100(13.5).

For the record,Liz Richardson(100/200/HJ/LJ/TJ/4x100),Rachel Burbridge(400/800/100H/400H/4x100),Debbie Raymond(100H/400H/PV/TJ/4x100);Sasha Gordon(HJ/LJ/JT),Nicky Atkins(100/200/800/1500/3000/4x100),Mary Waddington(all 4 throws),Harriet Lester(75H/SP/JT/4x100),Mary Iheke(100/HJ/DT/4x100),Roseanne Mackay(200/75H/DT/4x100),Emily Kneebone(100/LJ/HJ/4x100),Abi Gibbs(SP/JT/LJ) & Rahannah Gillette-Vernon(100/LJ) were those who put themselves 'on the line',for which K&P should be truly thankful.
