id391-NYAL S1W M1 Bracknell April 30th 2006 - Report

Written by DB

Our promoted team found the going tough back at Div One level, and, though there were some good wins and marks, our 3 opponents, all familiar to K&P(G&G/E&E/Bracknell),seemed to outnumber us; initial impressions were that we had too many gaps and too few 1sts/2nds to offer a serious threat, and thus it transpired. The team trailed in 4th for most of the afternoon, and we ended up a rather poor 4th,well adrift.Best performances came from William Trimble who won the Boys Field events Man of the Match, winning his 3 events inc a PB 40m+ JT, and from Mary Iheke who won the U17 300m in a fine 41.7. Team - Guildford&G 385,Bracknell 360,Epsom&E 334,K&P 187.

At U17 Men,Oore Sokoya & Neal Renfer were the pick;the U15 Boys were almost totally reliant on the afore-mentioned William Trimble;of the U13s,George Willkins again stood out, winning the 75H by a street in 14.2;the U17 Women did perform - Harriet Lester & Emily Kneebone scored a double at LJ,whilst regular leading point scorers Roseanne Mackay & Mary Iheke were backed up by Amy Simmons,Clarissa Brierley & Anna Schlerf;Lucy Jones & Maddy Garner were the pick of the U15s;and at U13 Victoria Douglas most looked the part.

Altogether a disappointing opening to the season which needs to be kick-started,primarily by a realisation from all those in the Training Groups that the whole idea is to COMPETE>
