id404-NYAL S1W M2 Kingston May 21st 2006 Report

Written by DB

On a foul day,the K&P turnout showed a marked improvement from the opening match but, then,it should,as we were hosting. However ,though we matched the other clubs in 5 age groups, the reluctance of our Under 17 men to react favourably to their invites meant we were handing points to the opposition in that group like confetti at a wedding. Scores - Bournemouth 372/Marshall Milton Keynes 302/K&P 288/Team Southampton 275. We are 14th of 16,with 5 to go down. The cancellation/abandonment of some events caused some argy-bargy as to the scoring,so adjustments have been made by the league(unnecesarily,in our view) - frankly,if some competitors at this level cannot turn up with sensible gear, they should not be allowed to curtail the competitions for those who are equipped - in schools comps, maybe, but not at club level in the NYAL.

Thirty girls responded - there were wins,either A or B,for Harriet Lester(2),Emily Kneebone,Soracha Healy(2),Mary Iheke(2),Clarissa Brierley,Lucy Clacher,Alice Simmons,Lucy Jones(2),Victoria Douglas(2),Ellie Northway,Phoebe Haynes,Anna Schlerf,Molly Renfer & Jenny Steinitz.In 2nd place to the eventual Female Field Event Athlete of the Match,Lauren Horner equalled her own Club U17 Pole Vault record at 2m.30.

And there were twenty-six boys - winners were Joe Johnson,Jake Budd,Michael Christov,Simon Clacher,George Wilkins,Matthew Clements(2),Tim Sagar,Daniel Fabregas & Gordon Lester.
