Yet another of Sue Shilling' splendidly-organised promotions(well over 20 years now & not forgetting husband Peter!) welcomed another blazing hot day,but with some helpful following winds for the sprinters. Three club records were probably the best efforts from K&P athletes(Mary Iheke twice & Richard Smeaton, neither of whom have set one before),but there were several notable performances.
A brief report follows but results were available super-quick; copies can be e-mailed on request.
Also good to see most of the K&P SWL team in action, either on the track or amongst the admin!
Going by age group,in the JB(U15),Richard Smeaton was the pick, his 2nd place 54.65 in the 400 was easily both a PB and a Club Record but Adam Wicks' 2 PBs in the 80H(13.20ht/13.04F) for 7th were close behind. Jake Budd's 12.39 100,Ryan Clancy's 3rd place HJ(1.55) & an 11.16 TJ from Malek Murison(though yet to answer any club call) were also worthy.
In the JG(U15),Lucy Jones was clearly our most accomplished performer, winning the 75H(11.80) in true Claire St John/Glyn Peckham style! A 13.77 100 from Charlotte Ambidge & a season's best DT from Natalie Ellis(21.04) were the pick otherwise.
At Inter Boys(U17),a 5th place at 100H(14.71) from Cormac Healy(another yet to run in a club match);a 3rd in the HJ(1.80) from Prath Kaneri and a 5.73 LJ from Hasanka Fonseka stood out.
The equivalent Girls group, argueably, produced the best batch of K&P results - Mary Iheke staked a real claim to an English Schools berth taking the 300 in a really nippy 40.16(+ 40.18ht)(and taking Sarah Harris' club record, too - twice in the afternoon);Harriet Lester ran training-partner Sandra Seaton close in 2nd(12.01 with a 4.4w following) over 80H;with Roseanne Mackay(300H 50.37) and Amy Simmons(DT 24.81) both similarly-placed to Harriet.
At Senior level(U20),Matthew Field took 3rd in the 100H(15.69);Claire Stonestreet was 2nd over 200(27.35) with Sarah Harris the most impressive taking 2nd over 400(58.19),just outside her PB but ceding only to the accomplished Dani Christmas(56.94).
Several K&P members will have achieved selection for the Inter County match at Southampton on June 17th,whilst at least one or two should be making that extra 'leap' to the English Schools in July at Gateshead.
