Commentary

A sextet of varying speeds, but boundless enthusiasm, represented K&P at the Priory Relays(4th) - Jamie McCullagh brought us in well up the field(5th - 13.40) on leg 1;John Burnett(14.59) kept us in the leading pack on 2;thereafter,it was damage-limitation,with Bob McDonough(M60)(17.44),Matt Hyett(17.09),Mike May(M45)(20.15) & David Barrington(M65)(21.28) conducting the exercise with diminishing returns in the gathering gloom - finishing 24th of the 33 teams.

Just 3 in the BPTT(4th) - but Frank(133rd-23.15) & Susanna(140th-23.21) eclipsed their previous bests,with Jonathan Kneebone 161st in 24.27.

At the 2nd Surrey Classic 10k(5th),Matt Taylor was 34th(38.50),Bob McDonough 89th at 42.49,Graham Huntley 102nd 43.47 & John Atkins 286th at 61.03.

Big Apple Marathon - see Mabel Winter file on Latest News.

Surrey Leagues & Downs - see separate reports.

At the 11th BPTT,Ralph Street was a fine 4th,17.34;Tim Sagar 21st 19.12;Patrick Tebble 31st 19.44;Ciaran Costello 52nd 20.15;Frank Schubert 107th 22.15;Jonny Miller 110th 22.19;Susanna Dietrich 153rd 23.38;Alistair Orr 212th 27.15;Seren Bresner 221st 28.13;Anna Schlerf 222nd 28.13; & Susan Cook 248th 31.29.

At the 18th BPTT,Ralph Street was again 4th;there were 10 K&P affiliates amongst whom Ollie Garner,Nikolay Schubert & Seren Bresner made significant improvements - full results on www.bptt.net----and on the same day,Jonny Miller represented Surrey Schools at Lilleshall, finishing 75th in the Inter Boys race.

As to be hoped and expected, results from the Borough Schools(received swiftly as usual from Nicki Murphy),held in Richmond Park (course/marshaling courtesy of just 5 K&P stalwarts),show successes for K&P members. In the Girls,Lolade Ogungbesan(SHS) was 2nd in the Y7s;Lucy Clacher(TG) mirrored that in the Y8s; Molly Renfer & Maddie Garner(both TG) headed the Y9 race with Jenny Steinitz(SHS) 5th;in the Inter Girls,Georgia Adams(Holly) was 16th;whilst Isobel Penney(TG) won the Senior race, with only AFD Inter Philly Sweetnam ahead and with Maddie Gunn behind;in the Boys,in Y7,Alistair Woods(Rokeby) was 6th,just ahead of Tiffins Ollie Garner(8th) & Nikolay Schubert(10th);Enes Ongoren(Holly) was the clear winner of the Y9;in the Inter Boys,Ralph Street won with fellow TBs Patrick Tebble(5th),Ciaran Costello(12th) & Jonny Miller 17th,with sprinter Jake Budd(South) 19th;finally,Tim Sagar(TB) took silver in the SB race.

The Women were the Saturday Specials (25th) with Bronze medals at the South of Thames 5m Champs on Epsom Downs - Rachel Burbridge led the team of 4 home in 9th(38.41),with Nicky Atkins 19th(41.29) and then Debbie Raymond 23rd & Johanna Gibbons 33rd.The race was won by evergreen Rachel Disley(for Thames H&H) in 35.19. The Men succumbed to anything you can think of,with only Matt Hyett(83rd) completing - in contrast to last year's most improved team medals! In the a.m.,Matt Taylor had finished 17th in BPTT,as our only runner.

Geoff Reed again contested The Gatliff, along with daughter-in-law Catherine and her father Dermod - read his report via Articles from the Main Menu.
