The Senior Womens team achieved the best K&P result at this year's Champs; thanks to Rachel Burbridge's excellent 23rd and a fearsome personal battle amongst the other three scorers, the squad claimed a fine 5th place.
A turgid day produced a turgid course, but one of which the County should be proud, representing real cross country as it did.
Teamwise, just the Senior women performed;we were barely able to trouble the scorers elsewhere, though there were some useful individual performances.
At U13 level,Oliver Garner(47th 15.24) & Nikolay Schubert(62nd 16.15) were in the Tiffins Boys squad.
In the U15 Boys,also representing Tiffins,Patrick Tebble was 43rd(19.15) and Jonny Miller 53rd(20.28);in the U15 Girls,Molly Renfer was a good 20th(19.34) with Maddie Garner 34th in 21.14.
In the combined U17/U20 events,Isobel Penney led in for K&P women in 18th(24.13) with Kelly Randall 35th in 26.04 & sister Linda 36th at 26.27,with the team 7th;whilst,in the mens,Ron Taylor, now recovered from injury but lacking sharpness, took 34th(24.20),with Humphrey Waddington 47th in 26.00.Racing for Tiffins,Ralph Street was 31st.
At Senior level, behind Rachel's 23rd,Charlie Sklenar(42nd 41.34),Debbie Raymond(43rd 41.36) & Nicky Atkins(46th 41.45) finished in close order to clinch our 5th team placing, and Jo Gibbons placed 85th in 49.26 to complete our contingent. In the final event of a soggy day,Jamie McCullagh was a heartening 27th(of nearly 200) in 49.03,with Mike Maranzano just adrift in 34th at 50.08.Completing our 5-man squad were Matt Hyett(134th 61.14),David Greenfield(146th 63.16) & Graham Huntley(150th 64.06) - well, lads,it will be equally muddy at West End Common but it wont be so long!
