First and foremost, the officials fully warrant our sincerest thanks for operating so efficiently in the most trying of conditions - primarily from an all-pervasive wind with a high chill factor. On behalf of the organisers, many, many thanks.
Otherwise, thanks in the main to encouragement from our coaches, there was a higher than usual turnout of K&P members, some 63 'toeing the line'. Overall, the attendance matched that of 2006,with,surprisingly,an increased support for the field events offseting an inevitable decline on the track. Some review of the scheduling of the throws will be necessary, where the high numbers in action meant some competitors were having to wait 20 minutes between trials.
In the prevailing conditions,it would be invidious to place a value on the K&P performances since some athletes will be able to combat such weather better than others.
However,K&P winners included Patrick Hillyer(U17MLJ 5.63),Victoria Douglas(U15GLJ 4.73),Roseanne Mackay(U17WLJ 4.94),Camilla Thrush(all 4 VW throws - 9.91/30.69/38.81/28.07),Ollie Garner(U13BSP 5.59),Kyle Stevens(SMSP 15.26),Felix Hatton(SMJT 64.60),Tom Parry(U17M100H 16.4),Mary Iheke(U17W100/150 13.61/20.91),Aidan Fahey(U13B100 15.24),Maris Kuklis(SM100/150/300 12.74/18.41/38.17) & Chris Hall(U20M 150 17.96),whilst there were also successes for K&P associates,Richard Holt & John Burnett.
A pick of the other more 'likely' performers included Charlie Ambidge(U17W100 14.09),Richard Smeaton(U17M300 40.99),Matt Field(U20M300 37.76),James Khajenouri(U13B800 2.37.60),Ollie Garner(U13B800 2.41.64),Emily McIlwain(U15GLJ 4.53),William van Klaveren(U13BJT 24.59) & Chris Dack(SMJT 58.94).
